I'm creating a function that turns a string into a Mexican Wave. I have created a string in an array where an uppercase letter is a person standing up one at a time just like in a Mexican wave. My code has passed all the tests but I don't understand why I'm getting this error;
block in wave': undefined method
upcase!' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError)
I'm very new to programming please and I can see that i'm quite close but i'm stuck. Thanks in advance for your help.
def wave(str)
array = []
i = 0
loop do
modified = str.split('')
if modified[i] != " "
modified[i].upcase!
modified = modified.join('')
array.push(modified)
end
i += 1
if i == str.length
break # this will cause execution to exit the loop
end
end
return array
end
